Dear Friends,
I want to alert you to a scam! Someone is sending emails, and text messages using my name and asking for assistance. If you have received an email, we apologize. I do not send personal emails and texts to our
parishioners.

Parish Finances – I need to share with you another challenge for our parish finances. The parish center classroom circulator has failed. This system controls the heat in the classroom area and will need to be repaired, or replaced. The system is the original system and parts are not available. We are having the boiler system inspected this week. I will keep you informed!

Peace,

Msgr. Ryan

Dear Friends,
During the summer, I have been reviewing many aspects of the parish. Last weekend the Gospel of Luke speaks about Jesus setting the world ablaze! The numbers I am seeing speak of a people that have moved away from the
Lord and have forgotten the practice of the faith. In the years prior to the pandemic, we would see 600 people at weekend masses, since returning to church we see about 250 in church on the weekend. The Mass and the reception of the Eucharist is central to our faith. How do we challenge people to return? I will be asking our morning rosary group to add to their intentions, a prayer for the return of people to the practice of Mass and Holy Communion! In the middle of September, I will ask you to join me in Prayer in Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament! We will have adoration on Wednesday from 9:30am to noon!

Dear Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize our parishioners who are doing charitable work with people in need. The Knights of Columbus have received from our parishioners more than 500 lbs of food goods each month and also monetary donations of $400-$500 a month for caring for those in need. The charitable work is caring for many, thank you!

I would like to recognize our parish volunteers who prepare and serve a meal monthly at the Lord’s Kitchen. Our volunteers care for people with food and a smile. May I ask the Lord’s Blessing upon you and your good work!

Dear Friends,
Last weekend I spoke in my homily about the “Amen Catholic APP”. The App is for your smartphone, tablet and computer. It has been created by the Augustine Institute, and it is free! Amen is the free Catholic app that brings you beautiful prayers, faithful meditations and nourishing Scripture to draw your mind, body and soul to rest in God.You may download the App from the Google play Store! The App offers spiritual meditations, many prayer forms, and studying the Bible in a year! Let us grow our prayer lives and teach our children to pray!

Parish Finances – As we have come to the end of the fiscal year for the parish, I have discouraging information to share with you about our parish finances. Our Sunday offertory collection is down $40,000.00! I have reviewed the giving patterns of our parishioners and found serious deficiencies. In supporting our parish, we asked in 2015 for each parish household to donate a weekly average of $18.00 a week. We thank those parishioners who are making their commitment to the parish. Facts about the parish deficit!!

1.Our parish has lost 148 families during the pandemic! People have passed, others have moved to be with family, others have entered assisted living facilities. 2.People are giving inconsistently; they are not coming to mass. Weekly donors have become monthly donors that are giving less. An example: If you gave $10.00 a week in 2001 and are giving the same $10.00 donation, your donation is worth>$4.00a week in 2022.

3.The cost of running the parish continues to increase. An example: the “Communion Hosts” have risen in cost 25%and add the shipping and handling costs the price have risen 42%. I will be sharing more information as the weeks go on. In the short term, a fix is asking each household to increase their weekly donation by $2.00 or more! I ask your continued support of Our Lady of Grace Parish.

Peace,

Msgr. Ryan
