Dear Friends,
As we have come to the end of the fiscal year for the parish, I have discouraging information to share with you about our parish finances. Our Sunday offertory collection is down $40,000.00! I have reviewed the giving patterns of our parishioners and found serious deficiencies. In supporting our parish, we asked in 2015 for each parish household to donate a weekly average of $18.00 a week. We thank those parishioners who are making their commitment to the parish.
Facts about the parish deficit!!
- Our parish has lost 148 families during the pandemic! People have passed, others have moved to be with family, others have entered assisted living facilities.
- People are giving inconsistently; they are not coming to mass. Weekly donors have become monthly donors that are giving less. An example: If you gave $10.00 a week in 2001 and are giving the same $10.00 donation, your donation is worth >$4.00 a week in 2022.
- The cost of running the parish continues to increase. An example: the “Communion Hosts” have risen in cost 25% and add the shipping and handling costs the price has risen 42%.
I will be sharing more information as the weeks go on. In the short term a fix is asking each household to increase their weekly donation by $2.00 or more! I ask your continued support of Our Lady of Grace Parish.
Peace,
Msgr. Ryan
