Dear Parishioners,

We all know Padre Pio, one of the most beloved saints. He once said: “Pray, hope, and don’t worry.” His total surrender to the will of God was the source of his great spiritual strength. We can pray these simple words with trust: “O Jesus, I surrender myself to You; take care of everything.” Lent is the perfect time for us to surrender ourselves more fully to God and to place all our worries in His hands. May this season help us grow in faith, trust, and love.

We all think about our future investments — buying a house or land, saving money, investing in stocks, and other ways to secure ourselves financially. These are all good and responsible pursuits. But today, I would like to speak about another kind of investment: FAITH and FAMILY. When we have faith and family, all things become possible through God’s grace. During this Lenten season, I encourage you to spend time together. Be patient with one another. Be kind. Serve one another with generosity of heart. May this Lenten season draw your families closer to Christ and to one another.

Faith is the foundation of the family. Our ancestors who came from Europe and other continents arrived with very little. They had no wealth, but they brought with them their faith, culture, and family traditions. They never forgot their roots. In those days, they did not have much money, yet they had large families with many children. They worked very hard—on the railroads, in construction, and in agriculture even so, they saved every penny to build beautiful churches across America and to start parochial schools. During this Lenten season, let us pray to strengthen our faith and our families. May God bless all our families. Be happy. We are precious in God’s eyes.

Dear Parishioners,

Life has a perfect time for everything — a time to work, a time to play, a time to rest, and above all, a time to pray. During Lent, this holy season invites us to spend more time in prayer. Prayer helps us grow into better persons, reflecting God’s presence in our everyday lives. Time is a precious gift, and how we use it shapes who we become. God has given us the beautiful gift of life and a wonderful place to live. One of His greatest blessings is the good people in our lives — a loving wife or husband, supportive colleagues, a caring boss, faithful friends. They make our lives beautiful. Let us also strive to be a blessing in someone else’s life. During this Lenten season, let us be kind and good to one another. Let us thank God for this beautiful life and make it meaningful by bringing His presence into the lives of others. May we imitate our Lord through compassion, kindness, mercy, gentleness, and humility. We are blessed. Let us rejoice and be glad.

Dear Loving Parishioners,

This Wednesday we will celebrate Ash Wednesday, the beginning of our Lenten journey. This is a sacred season that invites us to pause, reflect, and renew our faith. It’s a time to examine our hearts, acknowledge our sins, and seek God’s mercy.  The three traditional things we do during Lent, “known as the pillars”, are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving (charity), focusing on deepening our relationship with God through spiritual discipline, self-control, and service to others. You can increase prayer by attending daily Mass, fasting by giving up something you enjoy (like sweets or social media), and practicing almsgiving by performing random acts of kindness or donating to the poor. Let us remember one of my favorite saints, Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa was able to see Christ in the poor, sick, orphaned and dying, emphasizing that selfless love transforms ordinary actions into something more extraordinary. Always remember that Jesus is kind, compassionate, loving, and forgiving. He is waiting to spend time with us. Jesus wants to shower us with His graces and help transform our hearts and actions in His image. Let us begin our journey with a kind and humble heart, desiring a deeper relationship with Jesus and to serve God’s people.
